Eagle Scout Resources

Eagle

The requirements for Eagle Scout can be found in your Scout book or follow this link for the online version of the Scouting Rank advancements.

On your trail to Eagle, a critical requirement is completion of an Eagle Scout project. This project will demonstrate your leadership, planning, organizational and communication abilities. It is something to be proud of, it will be part of your Eagle legacy. Your project will represent what you have given back to your community and to Scouting.

When you are ready to start the process of selecting and completing your project you will work with the Troop Eagle Coach, Todd Steinmetz (Steinmetzt@me.com). The Eagle Coach will help you in your project process. A good online resource can be found on the eaglescout.org website, click on this link to visit that web page.

Resources for your Projects

Your Project Workbook

Once you have the project selected, you will complete the Eagle Project Workbook. Below is the link to the latest workbook. It is available for both Windows and Mac PCs.

Your project review process

Once you and the coach determine you are ready you will present the project to the Troop committee. This meeting must be arranged with the Troop Committee Chair. The committee will provide valuable feedback to make your project more successful.

Upon approval by the committee, you will present your project to the Shawnee Trails District Eagle Committee member at the monthly Shawnee Trails Round Table meetings. Those meetings change locations monthly. Target 6:30 to get your name on the list for your review. The earlier the better!

Where is roundtable is held every month (except July) at Shawnee United Methodist Church (10700 Johnson Dr. Shawnee Mission, KS 66203)

Now go complete your project! Remember, your role is to lead the work not do the work. Practice your edge skills and make sure the work is done to your, and your sponsors, satisfaction.

Once your project is complete you will go back to the Round Table meeting to have a project completion review. This is at the same place and time and once again arrive early.

But wait, before you go back you must make sure all your Eagle Merit Badges are complete, your leadership credit is logged, you have completed your future goals and objectives paper and you have completed the Eagle Scout Application. Below is the link to the latest fillable pdf version of that document.

Once all of this is completed, you will go back for final review and scheduling of your Board of review.
